Spark of Innovation Grant Program

The 2018-2019 Grant session has closed.
The next grant session will open in July of 2019.

The Education Foundation of South Brunswick Township, Inc. is pleased to announce the 2018/2019 Spark of Innovation Grant Program to assist you and your students in creating new opportunities for teaching and learning notSpark of Innovation Grant Program funded through the normal school budget process. The continuing goal of this program is to spark innovation in our schools and to give teachers an opportunity to put their creative ideas to work in the classroom.

Grant applications will be available every July with the application process limited to one cycle per school year.  Grants awarded through this call for applications can be instituted anytime during the Spring 2019 semester.

Two types of grants will be offered: Mini-Grants of up to $500 are meant to serve one teacher, one classroom and one project idea; and Collaborative Grants of up to $1,000 may fund projects involving multiple classrooms, departments or whole schools.

Applications will be reviewed on a competitive basis and a limited number will be awarded in this round.

To date the Foundation has granted $82,982.56 from its Spark of Innovation Program.

Physical Education Grant Program

Since 2014, through its Tour de South Brunswick and Foundation Fun Walk fundraising events, the Foundation has granted $6,600 to the physical education programs at various schools in the South Brunswick School District.

Joanne Kerekes Arts Grant

Joanne Kerekes devoted over 40 years of her career to education, and specifically over a quarter of a century to the South Brunswick School District, guiding the district to be the high achieving and innovative district it is today. She serves as an inspiration to all who worked with and for her. Joanne has a very special affection for the arts, music, library media and technology, and her support of those programs has left an unmistakable legacy.

In recognition of Joanne’s contributions to our district and in keeping with her special interests, the South Brunswick Education Foundation created the Joanne Kerekes Arts (JKA) Grant. This grant annually awards of up to $1,000 for proposals for a project, program, study, or initiative that promotes collaboration, inspiration, creativity, inquiry, integration of the arts (fine, practical or performing) and/or innovative use of technology related to the arts, literature and/or the humanities.
